Preamble of the Organization of Nigerian Nationals, D/FW, INC.

 

We the people of Nigeria resident in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, proud of our cultural and linguistic diversity, but aware of the imperative need to archive unity, solemnly declare and affirm our unshakable determination to cooperate in peace and friendship under an umbrella to be known as the Organization of Nigerian Nationals (ONN), D/FW, INC.

 

AIM and OBJECTIVES of ONN

1) Be the legitimate representative of all Nigerian Nationals in The Dallas/Fort Worth area.

2) To protect the right of all Nigerian Nationals.

3) To promote and create unity among all Nigerian Nationals

4) To promote understanding and unity among all people of all African descent.

5) To promote understanding and unity between Nigerians Nationals and all other people.

6) To promote positive image of Nigeria.

7) To provide avenue for each individual’s economic development by promoting corporative joint ventures partnerships.

8) To serve as a mouth piece and watchdog for all Nigerians in the DFW Metroplex.

 

Membership in ONN

1) ONN membership shall be granted to all Nigerians by birth, marriage, adoption or Nationalization, resident in Dallas/Fort Worth area in particular in the United States in General.

2) Membership shall also be granted to Nigerian Organization incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas that are in good standing and willing to abide and promote the basic objectives of ONN.

3) Each organization shall be represented by two individuals chosen among its membership.

4) Membership shall be acquired by completing the membership application form and a payment of onetime non-refundable fee of $25 by individuals and $100 by organizations. Annual renewable fee of $50 for individuals and $100 by organizations are also required to meet the organizations budgeting requirements.

 

Management of ONN

The organization of Nigerian Nationals (ONN), D/FW INC. is managed by executive officers that are elected annually by the general assembly. The executive president is the highest officer elected to manage the affairs of ONN

Bye Law #9 of ONN allowed the creation of the board of directors consisting of not more than 15 members, including the president of ONN and the immediate past president. Board members are appointed by the president of ONN in consulting with the sitting board subject to the approval of the general assembly (House). The Board elects its chairman and supporting officers. The Board primary function is oversees and insures the good image, general welfare and stability of ONN.

1) The Organization of Nigerian Nationals (ONN) is one of the best “top” five (5) Nigerian organizations in the United States.

2) ONN deals with issues that fall on National platform beyond the scope of community or parochial organizations in the US.

3) ONN provides forum for intellectual discussion on national issues, and pride itself as a medium for problem solving through which members may pool their resources to meet challenges beyond individual capabilities.

4) ONN is well recognized in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond by the US agencies, Texas State Government, Dallas/Fort Worth City officials, media houses (local and national) and Nigerian Government here and at home.

5) ONN represents the symbol of our “Unity and Diversity” because of our ethnic composition of its membership.

6) ONN serves as a “Clearing House” for various community organizations where information where information about all planned calendar activities are discussed and disseminated to avoid schedule conflicts.

7) ONN disseminates information of national value from Embassy, Consulate Offices and Nigeria to leaders of community organizations through the leadership conference meetings.

8) ONN fights for the right of all Nigerians and challenges issues with damaging and biased consequences of us as people.

9) ONN fosters better relationship with all government agencies such as immigration and Naturalization service’s (INS), City Police Departments, Mayor’s Offices, media houses and other community associations.

10) ONN addresses issues of discrimination facing Nigerians and facilitates equity and fairness in the areas of immigration, employment, social services and economic development.

Ø Main Seaport: Apapa and Tincan Island (Lagos), Port Harcurt, Calabar, Sapele, Koko, Warri, Oguta and River Niger at Onitsha have recently been approved as new ports.
